For academic year 2021-2022, the non-resident exclusively online tuition rate will be charged to non-resident students taking courses in exclusively online programs that have been previously approved by the Provost’s Office and registered by the New York State Education Department in distance education format, consistent with the student’s intention to take courses exclusively online at the time of application and matriculation toward the degree.
Students who are non-residents, whose intent is to be on campus learning, but may be studying remotely will be charged the standard non-resident rate.
Non-residential (out-of-state) students enrolled in Buffalo State's online courses are eligible for online tuition rates if they meet the following criteria:
1. Must be enrolled in exclusively online programs that have been previously approved by the Provost’s Office and registered by the New York State Education Department in distance education format, consistent with the student’s intention to take courses exclusively online at the time of application and matriculation toward the degree.
2. Must not have had an address in New York State within the last fiscal year (July 1 - June 30)**
** Students' residency status at Buffalo State during the last fiscal year will be used to determine the residency requirement for online tuition rates.
Full-Time Student (12 or more credit hours)
Tuition per semester $4,240.00
Mandatory fees per semester $481.50
Part-Time Student (1 – 11 credit hours)

Health Fee
This fee was increased for 20/21 and approved through the student broad based fee process. These services are available to every student, whether in person or remote, and telehealth options are available for students outside the Western NY area. For this reason the Health Fee is not eligible for waiver. Students are encouraged to make the most of the services provided by the Health Fee. Under this program, all undergraduate students receive an NFTA Metro Pass, which provides unlimited use of both the extensive NFTA bus services on and around campus, and all NFTA bus and rail services throughout the region.
